In an interview with WNYC’s Soundcheck, Quincy Jones said, “The next conversation I have with President [-elect Barack] Obama is to beg for a secretary of the arts.” Jaime Austria, who plays bass for the New York City Opera and the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, has taken up the banner and started a petition calling for President Obama to create this position.
